Request for Temporary Dispensation from Meter Reverification–2022-03-11

Under the provisions of subsection 9(2) of the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act, the President of Measurement Canada has received a request to grant a temporary dispensation from meter reverification. In consideration of this request, interested parties may make representations with regard to the following information, as provided by the applicant.

Reason for Request

Énergie NB Power is seeking temporary dispensation from meter reverification to assist with the deployment of an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution for the following operation area: Province of New Brunswick.

Description of Meters Identified for Temporary Dispensation

Énergie NB Power is applying for dispensation for the following 44,981 meters, all due for inspection in the calendar year 2022.

  • Residential meters under compliance sampling – 42,514 meters
  • Commercial meters under compliance sampling – 339 meters
  • Meters under 100% testing – 2,128 meters

Meters will not be added to original groupings granted temporary dispensation.

Duration of Temporary Dispensation

January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024.

Proposed Meter Performance Assurance Program

Énergie NB Power will process all meters as described in the measurement accuracy mitigation plan to reduce the potential for non-compliance with the requirements of the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act.

Removed meters will be processed as per Measurement Canada requirements and all records prescribed will be maintained per subsection 11(2) of the Electricity and Gas Inspection Regulations.

Interested parties may submit representations with regard to this temporary dispensation request until April 10, 2022.
