Buying desserts by weight

Buying desserts by weight (the long description is located below the image)
Long description of the infographic

The price charged to customers for desserts sold by weight must not include the weight of packaging materials. Businesses have a responsibility to ensure the weight of the packaging is not included in the calculation of the total price.

However, packaging can be sold for a separate fee or provided at no extra cost to the customer.

A certified scale must be used to determine the weight of the food. Retail food scales must be inspected every 5 years.

Check the scale to ensure it has a valid Measurement Canada inspection sticker.

You can contact Measurement Canada if you believe you haven't received what you paid for. If you still have concerns, you can file a complaint with Measurement Canada.
