Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics for Trustees is an integral part of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency General Rules (Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act).

The Code establishes a standard for services to be provided by Licensed Insolvency Trustees (LIT). It addresses the information that LITs must provide to creditors, the treatment of funds entrusted to LITs, conflicts of interest, and the sale and purchase of the property of a business or individual who has filed for bankruptcy. It also contains standards for advertising by LITs and for maintaining the good reputation of the LITs' community.
